GALT is ‘GROSS AIR LEAK TESTING’

Prior to conducting a sensitive leak testing, a preliminary test called “GROSS AIR LEAK TEST” shall be carried out to check the gross leaks in the equipment & system.

Air for testing shall be supplied either from a Global Pipelines portable compressor or, from an instrument quality air supply.

During the test, the pressure shall be increased in stages to allow for equalizing of strain during the test and to  allow for leak checking and inspection of the equipment & system. Joints shall be tested with soap solution and be examined for leaks.

Why MOP Leak Test is IMPORTANT?

The objective of the MOP and Integrity leak tests is to perform a leak test at maximum operating pressure to ensure safe introduction of process fluid during Commissioning phase.
